This mural is located in a courtyard between the hospital’s emergency room and mental health unit. When I met with staff from the hospital during the design process, it was soon apparent that the number one need for the people who use this space, was to have a place to go to regroup from their busy, sometimes stressful days, a place to relax and take a deep breath. We explored many ideas, and settled on a simple, water-based design that offers a sense of calm.
