With bold, vivid colors and larger than life representations, this mural highlights the beauty of local estuary life and fosters a deeper connection and a sense of place. It mesmerizes and reminds us that there is more to the world than what we see daily, and that we must always keep those hidden places at top of mind when making choices that affect the world.

We used a collaborative design process and invited the community to help paint this mural, over 2 years. During the second year, I worked with 6 high school students in a mural mentorship program, involving them in every aspect of the mural’s creation. This piece draws increased visitors to the Puget Sound Estuarium Science Center, where they can learn more about our native estuary species.
